THIS BOOK BROKE MY HEART

Spoiler alert! Depression affects around 350 million people, yet it's one of the most misunderstood illnesses going. Simply because of its invisibility. However, I believe that depression isn't invisible at all.Sure it affects your brain mostly, but it affects your actions. What you do.How you sleep.Everything.  One way of raising awareness of depression and other mental illnesses is writing fictional books about characters with them. Now I don't know if that's why authors do so, but I think it's a great thing to do. One book that I recently read was All The Bright Places. This is a book that has been publicised by Youtuber and Blogger Zoe Sugg aka Zoella. And I'm so glad that I watched her book club video because this book changed my life. Well kind of. The whole story is basically about two characters, Theodore Finch and Violet Markey. They have very different but similar stories. They've both been suicidal. It's crazy to see the two characters g

Ok Bouquet

Image
I was lucky enough to be sent some flowers from the company Ok Bouquet. Ok Bouquet are a company who sell bouquets of flowers and they're absolutely beautiful.  The delivery service was very quick. It gives you the option to track your order and gives you an hour slot of when your order will arrive. So you haven't got to sit around all day. The flowers came in a giant box and immediately I knew that it was going to be a giant bouquet. I'm not going to lie I did have some struggle removing the flowers from the packaging, but it shows how secure they were. They came in immaculate condition.  The roses were such a beautiful deep red colour, which enhances my 'dark side'. I loved how they gave you more of an option of what colours you wanted your roses. I'm not going to lie,I injured myself putting them in the case.Aka I had thorns.  The flowers smell so fresh and they have such a calming scent to it. I had to put the flowers in 2 different vases because the bouquet was

Wilkinson's sensitive skin range

I was shopping around a month or two ago and I went into the local wilkinsons to look at what skin stuff they have. Turns out they actually have their own range and for 95p per thing,I couldn't resist buying them. I brought a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and their face wipes. The face wipes where 20p a pack.Honestly,I wasn't expecting much. Now,it has become my skin care routine. A round of applause for Wilkinsons please. Let's start with the face wipes, because that's what I do with my routine. I was expecting them to be dry like most cheap wipes are,but they weren't and they had the right amount of fluid on them. They're soft on the skin, obviously not as good as the more expensive wipes such as simple ones that are around £1-£2. But if you're on a budget(or not) try them. For 20p you can't go wrong. They got my make up off so well I was so impressed and they're not harsh on your skin. The cleanser is also incredible, you put some on a cotton wool pad

The Book Thief review

Now I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of the book thief in some way, shape or form. But I picked this gem up for 20p in a car boot sale and it has been the best 20p I have ever spent before. Firstly, the book was signed and I legit nearly peed. It was such a big book I instantly thought "Oh my god I'm going to get so bored of this".You know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover. I didn't know the storyline of the book thief before I read it,especially as I wanted to watch the movie once I'd read it. (The book is way better than the movie).Basically the story is about a girl who lives in Nazi Germany during the war with her (foster?) parents and she steals books. I don't want to say too much as I don't want to give it away because it is so amazing,so I'm going to leave it there. The story was written in the perspective of death and I have never been so intrigued by a narrator before. The author personified death and I admire that so much!

Palmolive shower gel

Image
So I think that we have all established that I suck at posting.I have so many ideas on what to write but I never get round to actually writing it.I think I better change that.  For me nothing screams summer more than fruity scents, alchohol, and annoying bugs.Since a blog on annoying bugs would be rather boring and it's a bit inappropriate to write about alcohol.I'm going to post about fruity scents. I was shopping with my friend last week ,and I saw the new Palmolive shower gel range. I smelt all three of the scents and couldn't resist buying them! Not to mention that they were on offer for £1 each.Bargain. This range comes in three scents which are strawberry touch, vanilla pleasure and chocolate passion .Since these are my favourite scents ever I couldn't resist buying them. These are the sort of shower gels that you don't actually have to use much of.They have such a strong scent and they leave your body smelling and feeling amazing. They actually have body butt

The Further EP review

Image
The Further are a newly made band who can easily be compared to bands like The Smiths,  Suede, Manic Street Preachers etc. The band is made up of Peter Backler, Barrington Mole and James Dowse. Barrington (band member) was kind enough to send me the EP to feature and let me tell you. I was not disappointed. I can easily say that Cling 2 me is my favourite from the EP. The whole thing has such a feel good vibe to it. It's the sort of record that you can easily listen to whilst doing coursework or other things. I love the whole sound to this EP. It sounds classic-if you can describe it as classic. You can tell that they're not trying too hard to be just like other artists. They're original and I like it. Ordinary- This is one of those songs that makes me feel like a badass bitch! It can most definitely be used for a sound track. Not to mention that the song is incredibly catchy. I love it! Cling 2 Me- It has such an Arctic Monkeys vibe to it! I am ser

How I wash my brushes

Image
Something that I've noticed whenever I'm looking at comments on beauty guru's pages is that people always ask for them to share their brush-washing routine. Sooo I thought that I'd share mine. It may be helpful, it may not be. The main product that I use to wash my brushes is face wash. It doesn't matter how cheap or expensive it is, because it's not going to make you break out or anything. I like to use the ones that don't quite work on my skin, so I'm not really spending any money. I also use a brush egg that I found on Ebay for 99p. Bargain! It helps the process so much!   I tend to clean my brushes in the evening and leave them to dry over night. I would definitely not recommend blow drying your brushes as the brushes are only plastic and they will burn. It's not worth ruining your brushes over. So at first I wet the brushes with warm water, dip it in some face wash then clean the brushes in a circular motion against the brush egg. Then rin

Miss Sporty haul

Image
A couple of months ago I entered one of Miss Sporty's competitions to win a few of their bits-and I won. I was very pleased with how the products arrived, and more importantly, the products themselves. They sent me a foundation, a BB cream,an eyeshadow, a lipstick,a liquid lipstick, a blusher and two nail polishes.Firstly, the foundation was completely the wrong shade so I gave it to a friend which is why it's not featured in this post. The BB cream that I received was Morning Baby  in shade 001 nude radiance. I've tried wearing this on its own and I don't feel that it works quite as well as the Garnier  one. But then again, Miss Sporty  is a cheaper brand. The product is rather liquidy, but it works perfectly as a primer.  The eyeshadow that I received was a studio mono  eyeshadow in shade 108 romance.  The shade is rather light, but it works perfectly for when you're trying to put some eyeshadow on the top of your lids to make it blend properly and if you're going

We do NOT need to talk about Kevin

Image
One of the books that I was most intrigued to read was We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. I had been told by a few people that it was an incredible book and that I really needed to read it. After picking it up in a local charity shop I decided to do some research on the book (like I usually do)-like read reviews, etc. Considering that everyone seemed to love this book, lets just say my expectations were high. In class I had read an extract from this book and I thought yeah this seems alright actually. And then I started to read the book at home, I automatically knew that it was going to be a complicated book. It's one of those books that I knew I had to be wide awake to read it. But, everytime that I was reading the book I was tired. Turns out it was the book that was making me tired. I've said it before in another one of my reviews that sometimes I have to read a book more than once to appreciate it fully. But I honestly don't think I can do it. Let

Interview tips

Recently I went for an interview and I spent two days preparing for it. I really want this job,if you can't tell already. I am still yet waiting to find out whether I got the job or not. Fingers crossed though. I thought that I would give you guys some tips as it's really important to be prepared for your interviews. 1-Do your research. If the company has a website then go on it and gather as much information as you can. If it's a retail place look at what they sell, any deals that are going on and their best sellers. You're likely to be asked if you know anything about the company. 2-Look appropriately. You don't want to be overdressed or underdressed. Think about what company you're applying for. If it's for a store like New Look,Topshop etc then wear fashionable clothes. If it's for a office job then wear smart clothing. You don't want to turn up to a New Look interview wearing a suit, you'll look too overdressed. Also, try not to overdo your make

Chapter 2

I suppose you want to know what happened-don't you? After I received the letter I immediately rung up my boyfriend,Kyle, and he came round 10 minutes later. I was frantic and he gave me his car savings, which was £3000. I was so grateful, but I still had no idea how I was going to get the other £7000. I sold some of my expensive jewellery,my gadgets, most of my things. This gave me an extra £4000. I was desperate, you need to understand this. That's why I did what I did.  It wasn't major prostitution,I swear. I never had sex with them,I just did what I had to to get the 3 grand. Most of the men were rich which was good so they paid well. I know it was bad, you don't have to give me that look. The men it happened with were rich,so they paid well.I didn't actually have to do much. I am ashamed though, but it didn't end there I guess. The rest just wasn't voluntary. My mum?Yeah she died.I gave them the money on time and exactly where they wanted it.They didn't ca

Princess Jasmine inspired look

Image
I've decided that this year I'm going to do a lot more inspired looks,so I'm going to start off with Princess Jasmine.   First of all I started off with my foundation( as usual) the foundation I used was by the brand B and it was the radiant one. This is found in Superdrug. I then applied my pressed powder and I used my Miss Sporty one because this one gives great coverage and it makes me look more tan. For blusher (this is one of the things I noticed about Princess Jasmine, that she has rosy-ish cheeks) I used BellaPierre in shade desert rose. I only applied a small amount as I didn't want to go fully over board and Princess Jasmine doesn't have massively rosy cheeks. For eyes,I started off with eye shadow. I used the first shade in the revolution palette then added the second shade around the corner of my eye and to the crease. When I was looking at pictures of Princess Jasmine I noticed she doesn't have bold eyeshadow,so I thought them shades fit perfectly. Th
